In what ways can I expect holistic physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy to help with the pain in my elbows and wrists?

Physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and massage treatment can all help alleviate pain in your elbow, wrist, or hand. If you’re in pain, we can help you go back to living a normal life with our sophisticated therapies at Northstar Integrated Health & Physical Medicine Center.

It is possible to reduce or minimize the need for hazardous medicines and invasive surgical procedures like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome using conservative treatments like holistic physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy. For example, holistic manual therapy techniques and pain-reduction modalities like acupuncture can be combined with specific therapeutic exercises to restore strength and pain-free motion.

What could be causing the pain in my elbows, wrists, and hands?

Any pain you’re experiencing around these parts of your body could be caused by one of the following conditions:

  • Sprains/Strains

It is also possible to experience discomfort as a result of injuries to the elbow, wrist, or hand due to strains. Sprains are more commonly associated with ligament injuries, whereas strains are more commonly associated with muscle or tendon damage. An outstretched arm or catching a heavy object are the most common causes of this type of injury.

  • Arthritis

One out of every five Americans suffers from some form of arthritis. The cartilage in the elbow, wrist and hand joints was previously thought to be damaged by repetitive motions or loads. This is not the case, as we are aware of this fact. Physiotherapy, chiropractic care, and massage therapy have all been shown to benefit joint mobility, inflammation reduction, and muscle strength. The truth of the matter is that you could have just picked your parents a little more carefully.

  • Elbow Bursitis

The bursa, a fluid-filled sac near the end of the elbow, acts as a cushion for the elbow bone, or “ulna.” Injuries or repetitive motions can cause the bursa to become squeezed, resulting in pain and edema in the area. As a result, elbow bursitis is common in athletes and students.

  • Tennis Elbow and Golfer’s Elbow

A tennis elbow injury affects the elbow’s lateral (outside) side, whereas a golfer’s elbow is an injury that affects the medial (inside) side of the elbow. Neither of these injuries is specifically related to sports; rather, they are the result of inappropriate loading or repetitive use injuries. The best therapies for these diseases are physiotherapy, chiropractic, and massage therapy since they repair the fundamental joint and soft tissue limits that produce tension on the tendons and quickly alleviate inflammation.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

Essentially, the carpal tunnel protects your wrist’s median nerve and the tendons you use to flex your fingers, which is its primary role. A constricting nerve tunnel can lead to numbness and tingling of the thumb, first and second fingers when the nerves are pressed against each other. Wrist and finger edema are both possible side effects of carpal tunnel syndrome. There are two ways in which Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) can be triggered: by an injury or repetitive use of the hands in the workplace.

  • Cubital Tunnel Syndrome

If you suffer from cubital tunnel syndrome (CTS), you’re at risk for developing pain in your elbow, wrist, and hand. What causes it? Repetitive pressure on the inner elbow’s “funny bone”—the nerve that runs through it. The ring and pinky fingers might become painful, numb, or tingly if pressure is applied to the cubital tunnel and nearby nerves.

  • Referral from your neck

Avoid wasting time and dollars on therapy or other methods of pain relief until you’ve had your neck thoroughly evaluated. This “carpal tunnel” pain and numbness can often be alleviated by very simple neck movements.

It’s imperative that you schedule an appointment with the Northstar Integrated Health & Physical Medicine Center as soon as you notice any of the aforementioned symptoms or chronic pain in your elbows, wrists, or hands.

Does this sound like something you’re experiencing?

Chronic elbow, wrist, or hand pain may be indicative of something more serious than an injury, especially if it persists for more than six months. When it comes to your pain, it can range from mild to excruciating. Irregularly, meaning it comes and goes throughout the day or consistently. Numbness or tingling in the fingers or other extremities may also be present in addition to the pain. Depending on the severity of your condition, this can make it difficult for you to perform at a normal level, causing problems at work, completing everyday tasks, or participating in your favorite activity.

Don’t wait any longer to get relief from upper extremity pain.

The pain and limitations in your elbows, wrists, and hands should not diminish your quality of life. Contact NORTHSTAR INTEGRATED HEALTH & PHYSICAL MEDICINE CENTER today to schedule a consultation with a member of our dedicated team of holistic therapists.
